To promote physical fitness and enrich extracurricular life, the College organised a student delegation to participate in the University’s Badminton Tournament of 2025 Postgraduate Sports Month, themed ‘Spring Feathers, Flourishing Youth’ from 20-26 April.
The competition featured five events: women’s singles, men’s singles, women’s doubles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles. A total of 11 master’s students from the College participated, including Liu Dongdi, Li Yongqi, Hou Xiaolin, Xie Jinyan, Liu Xinling, Geng Chang, Chang Jianing, Zhang Yuchen, Lin Hongwei, Cai Zhenyu and Chen Qishan.

During the group stage, matches followed a best-of-five team format, with each match decided in a single game. The tournament officially kicked off at 9 a.m. on 20 April. The players displayed impressive skill and determination, remaining fully focused and demonstrating their competitive spirit throughout the event. The team achieved victories over several strong opponents, defeating the joint team of the School of Foreign Studies and the Guangming School of Journalism and Communication with a score of 3:2, the joint team of the School of Marxism, the School of Confucian Studies and the Institute for Human Rights with 3:1, and the School of Humanities with 3:2. Although the team was defeated 0:3 by the School of International Law, they still secured 9 points and advanced to the quarterfinals ranked fourth in their group.
In the knockout stage held on 26 April, the team faced the highly competitive Civil, Commercial and Economic Law School. Despite a narrow defeat, the players were widely applauded for their resilience and teamwork. Throughout the match, they demonstrated fearless spirit and tenacity, frequently countering opponents’ attacks with precise smashes and agile defense, embodying the true essence of sportsmanship.
This tournament not only provided a valuable platform for inter-school athletic exchange and camaraderie, but also showcased the vitality and positive spirit of CUPL’s postgraduate community. It fostered interdisciplinary interaction, strengthened team cohesion, and encouraged students to maintain physical health and release stress amid academic demands, achieving a balance between body and mind. Going forward, the College would continue to support such activities, promoting the holistic development of postgraduate students and cultivating a vibrant, healthy campus culture.
