The Jean Monnet Programme (2020–2023) led by Professor Zhang Tong, Director of the Centre for China-EU Legal Studies of CUPL, was officially and successfully concluded at the end of December 2023.
The programme was approved in July 2020, marking Zhang Tong’s second time receiving the prestigious title of Jean Monnet Chair awarded by the European Union.
The project team included A/Prof. Zhang Xuezhe, A/Prof. Xu Yan and Lecturer Jiang Feng’an from the College, Prof. Zhang Shujing from CUPL’s School of Business, A/Prof. Jin Jing from CUPL’s School of Civil, Commercial and Economic Law and A/Prof. Zhang Nan from CUPL’s Institute for the Rule of Law in China. International collaborators included Prof. Reiner Schulze from the University of Münster, Prof. Thomas Möllers and Prof. Reinhard Singer from the University of Augsburg, and Prof. Andre Janssen from the Radboud University.
Throughout the programme’s three-year duration, the team achieved significant progress in the development of EU law curricula, academic research on EU legal issues and the internationalisation of CUPL’s legal education.
